Inspired by the city of East Oakland, artist, and entrepreneur Galactico is using his talents to uplift and elevate his community.

Uruapan Michoacan, Mexico born, Christian Martinez, traveled to Oakland, California in 1999 with his family to build a better life for themselves. At a young age he experienced the reality of the struggle, seeing minorities dealt an unfair hand by the inequality plaguing the community. Inspired to become an activist to bring about change, he adopted the moniker Galactico and began his journey to improving the condition and lives of those enduring hardships.

In 2010, he took his efforts into the education field, becoming an educator to his community of Fruitvale. Alongside his educational efforts, he launched the co-founded, Latitude 37.8 High School to guide and expose the youth to real-world project-based learning with strong arts, multimedia, and technology integration. At the onset of 2018, Galactico extended his efforts into the digital avenue, launching his Noxhegalactica Podcast & Magazine that encourages healthy communication and resolution of community issues and problems. His resume of philanthropy is always expanding into ways to elevate and nurture the next generation of humanity. From first-hand experience of the importance of mental health, Galactico wanted a new way to promote his messages. This manifested into his own clothing brand, Swimgood with the motto, “No matter where you are in this ocean called life, you’ll be okay if you just Swimgood.”

With his status steady growing and his deeds bearing fruit in the coming generation, Galactico released his new electric single, “Michoacano” off his mixtape “Brown Boy With Self Love.” The track is a smooth rendition of effortless rhyme scheme delivery and lyrical flows that implant Galactico’s emotions and thoughts to listeners. Transitioning between Spanish and English verbiage, Galactico’s versatility shines through the dope beat.
