FIFA World Cup: Messi’s Argentina beat Netherlands on penalties to reach semis

Argentina and Lionel Messi kept their World Cup dream alive on a nervy night as they defeated Netherlands 4-3 on penalties to reach the semi-finals on Saturday. Argentina will now face the last edition’s runners-up Croatia, who knocked Brazil out of the tournament with a shootout win on Friday, in the last four stage on Wednesday.

Croatia knock favourites Brazil out of the World Cup

Pre-tournament favourites Brazil were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup again in the quarter-final stage, their fourth last 8 exit in the last five editions, as Croatia snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to reach the semi-finals in Qatar. Croatia defeated the five-time champions 4-2 on penalties after the extra time ended level at 1-1 at the Education City stadium.
